Memory is a wonderful thing we all have, and cherish.  Memories make me think of good and bad, easy and hard, and boring or exciting times.  For this interesting show at the Cahoon Museum, I've focused on my years growing up in the 1950's.  In our family, my sisters and I spent the school year in New York City and summers in Massachusetts.  So, I painted two memories that I treasure.

Growing up in the 1950's, my family lived in Manhattan on West 74th Street.  On school days, I would walk up to 89th Street along Columbus Avenue, past the Museum of Natural History.  Rain or shine or snow, I remember a happy safe time.  My Mom would give me 75 cents for lunch, or pack a brown bag lunch for me.  My favorite days were the 75 cent for lunch days, because I could walk from school to Columbus Avenue, and choose pizza or a chicken sandwich at the Drug Store, for lunch!  Snow fall in N.Y.C. was a very fun thing too.  My sisters and I would walk to Central Park after school and slide down the glacial rocks on cardboard "sleds".
